A Personal Reintroduction to Metal

I need to get back to the good stuff.

For a long time I was a full time metal fan. I had all the best music from my older brother. Then the new wave stuff of the early 2000s came along and then the scremo phase followed by general degradation of popular metal.

I diverged to other types of music. Spent a long time in prog. Then listened to possibly too much Zappa, a lot of funk and recently electronic music of various strengths and viscosities.

Not long ago I began playing Euro Truck Simulator 2, hear me out, and it has the best feature I have ever encountered in a game. Full internet radio streaming in game. More games need this it is amazing. So I hit upon Radio Gothic and it all came back to me.

The power of the music overtook me. I could feel the strength of titans wielding hammers hewn from the remnants or dying stars, forging the cores of planets. Eons pass, ages of men rise and fall, great battles errupt. It was glorious.

I began going back and listening to all my old favourites. Epic, operatic power metal. Particularly HammerFall.

So now I am on the hunt and I call upon you to aid me. What are your favourites, post them up. It does not have to be epic power metal, I am looking for something I possibly have not heard before.

That Symphony X was really good. Really good, but the Sabaton is Awesome! Although the second one was broken. I think YouTube removed the audio. The Iron Savior was epic. I will get back to it tomorrow. I stopped after the Saxon.

Thanks for all the music.

Good to hear. If you have a taste for anything heavier, we will send them your way.

Some of their stuff.

Wizards & Demons maybe? It's a side project of Hansi Kürsch and Jon Shaffer, what follows, Iced Earth also wasn't recommended yet.

Thanks a lot. I have been listening through these and enjoying almost all of it. I went looking around for some Sabaton and Symphony X CDs but I cannot find any. I can get them on Google Play Music but then it is in 320MP3. I could get them on Amazon now that I think of it. Is there anywhere else I could get either the Physical or FLACs?

Annoying ly Blind Guardian is reasonable popular or at least better known but still can't get the CDs in even obscure shops.
