A SlimSAS card is $20 and 2 SlimSAS cables is $40. Voila you just moved 16 PCIe lanes 1M for $60USD.

I can do full PCIe 4.0 over 1M cables so

Not with a $20 SlimSAS card or even a $60 budget.

It’s likely >Gen3 speeds won’t work reliably with 1M cables, without additional redrivers or retimers.

If you made it work with PCIe AER (advanced error reporting) turned on and have no errors, then you did it and you should share.
