This may not be "news", but it seems that right under my nose, NVIDIA's 9800 GX2's have dropped substantially in price, down to $284.99 on Newegg. Is it just me, or weren't those monsters around $400 not too long ago? I'd say that's a pretty good move on NVIDIA's part to compete with the ATI 4870 in the same price range, even though in my opinion the 4870's are still the better deal. I could have sworn they were still pretty high just last week.
I looked it up, apparently NVIDIA is going to be making further price cuts to its products. I doubt to see the GTX280 drop below 300 any time soon, but who knows, maybe NVIDIA will get that desperate.
dont go for the gx2. seriously the problems with it are absolutely amazing. it drops fraames randomly to one fps and then slowly gets back to the norm. it has microstuttering wich will happen on all dual gpus at the moment including the 4870x2 i believe unless ati has really perfected the drivers. if you want almost equivalent power get the stock clocked bfg gtx 280 from newegg it is only around 400 bucks and then a mail in rebate for 30 bucks. link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814143141
i bough the baby for 589 :( and now 284... i might get another one after getting more money to put 2 blocks of watercooling on my system because this thing gets wayyyyyy to hot!!!
Uh maybe they are dropping the pricez not to compete but cuz they r makin sumfin new?I mean thats what they want us to do..Go get the card now that the price has dropped then they slap us in the face :P with a new gfx card and ur like ''Awww man i just got this one and that one is soooo better''I got a 9800gtx and ill b fine till a VERY good gpu arrived by nVidia
