Hello,
I am getting some memory management bsods on my pc and upon reading I am going to replace the RAM.
I had 8gb ddr4 2666mhz and used it for gaming mainly, I know you probs get this all the time but is 8gb of RAM enough for gaming. I have the EVGA z170 FTW which has 4 slots so I could just get another 2x4gb kit down the road or should I just get 16gb of the bat?
Thanks
8GB of ram is generally enough for gaming. If you're looking to upgrade to 16GB down the road anyway you might as well just get the 4x4 kit now because the price will probably be cheaper that way (about $10). 16GB is good to have if you want to do other things besides gaming that require more ram (video editing for example) or if you want to (dare I say?) "futureproof" your system a bit. Additionally the 4 sticks could get you quad channel memory, though i haven't done research into how beneficial if at all this is to gaming.
I would go with 16gb off the bat its not that expensive right now and new applications start to use more and more ram its just good to have 16 gb for over head.
