I have an ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 AM3+ AMD 760G motherboard and i want to know if i got a amd fx 8350 if it would work. If not should i just wait to get a new intel motherboard and i7?
No. There are no good motherboards for AM3+ in mATX. It may work but you won't be doing any OCing and it may even limit the speed of the CPU. Max I'd go is a a 6300 on that board and even that is questionable.
Need at least something like an Asus M5A97 R2.0 to run an 8 core FX.
If you do want to switch to Intel and are just gaming there is no reason to buy an i7. $100 more for no in game benefit.
I do more than just game. But i have an amd fx 6300 on that motherboard and i have it overclocked to 4.3 ghz on air. so that motherboard and chipset is more than enough to power that cpu
I use software like Cinema 4D and Adobe After Effects and Premier Pro.
I currently have a gtx 760 and i want to get a gtx 970
Well than maybe an i7 would be for you.
You can get the 970 now. The 6300 won't bottleneck it. Only in CPU bound games it may bottleneck a little but it is so much faster than the 760 it really doesn't matter and can power through any bottleneck and still give you way better framerates. I may wait though until AMD drops the R9 3XX series. Current leaks show the 380X being faster than a 980 and about as efficient or even more so. Apparently gonna be cheaper too.
Asus was just recently talking about making an mATX 990fx mobo. Try looking into that.
I really doubt anything will come of it. AM3+ is a dead socket. It makes no sense to spend money and time developing a motherboard for a socket that is dead. Especially because by the time it will come out AMD will be on Xen and K12.
I know about the straw poll but it isn't going to happen and even if it did it would be in like a year or so.
+1
Though an i7 is generally overkill.
if you need more power than the 6300 in mATX format... Xeon for the win...but it by consensus, won't come from AMD
Ya, the 760g held back a 6100 and 7750 gpu. I cant even imagine how bad it would be for 8350. ( IF you could get it to run. )
i7 + new mb is the way to go, failing that if you were to run one of the new low power FX chips - 8320E for example, then undervolt it as far as it will remain stable at stock speeds and provide adequate cooling to both it and the motherboard you may get away with it for long term use... oh yeah and dont consider oc'ing. A 125w 8350 though, no way, it'll be a hand grenade.
yea it supports it. But yea depends how much your spending. If your budget is 200 then yes! If your budget is 400 then no, go for i5.

I5-4690K will render allot faster then a FX6300 / FX8350 in adobe premiere aswell.
No it won't. Rendering is what the 8350 does best. Trust me. My 8350 renders much faster in Premier than the 4690k. AE maybe but Premier no

Haswell cpu´s especialy the 4790K render allmost twice as fast in adobe premiere.
So here is my ultimate question because i really want a gtx 970 is my fx 6300 enough or should i just switch and drop the cash to go to intel?
depends on the games you play, and how you play them, but if you simply wanne suck most performance as you can get out of that GTX970 in every possible gaming scenario, then yes you should go intel imo..
8350 for quicker render times
I went through this a little while ago. I did not want to change my case or mATX form factor. So I ended up going intel. I went with the i5 4590 at microcenter for 160$ and a Gigabyte Gaming 5 board. All under 300$ it has been a nice upgrade. I will be getting a second GTX 760 for this machine soon than calling good for awhile.
yeah i can remember, that you indeed jumped to an i5. You said you had realy an improvement in the minimum frames. And some games you where having issues with on the FX runed butter smooth on the i5 right? ☺
Yes
