8350 extremly hot (80-90 C)

Right so I decieded to redo the cable management in my computer, and while i was doing that i wanted to see if i could fit my on my Coolermaster seidon 120m the other way around because I thought it would do for better looking management as well, I found out that it wasen't possible when i had already taken off the pump and block.

I then remounted it, exactly as I had done when I first built the computer, and the temps got really high (like 80-90 degrees at load), and my Computer shut down because of it.

I thought that maybe I had done a poor job of applying termal paste, so I took the cooler off again, redid the thermal paste and threw on the cooler again, it seemed fine for a period, not as good as when I had just built the computer, but deffently better than last time. Even in Prime 95 they didn't exeed 72 (still high, but not as high).

It then started to go up again, and when I played BF4 it got to 90 degrees and saftey shutdown.

Idle is at 25-40 degrees (yes I know it's a big difference, but that what it says)

I don't know what to do, I'm at a loss here, I've done everything as it should be done, yet I get these extreme temps

My idle temps before were 18-25 degrees

and under heavy load it was at 60-65 degrees (all in celsius)

I have an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R. 2.0 Mobo with my FX 8350.

Please help, and ask any questions, I'll answer them as good as I can

i think your cooling system must have crapped out on you

probably you killed the pump indeed.

I get Paranoid with Water cooling so I don't do it. cause I'm afraid stuff like this would happen. but what they said. your pump must of been shot. try looking at some new CPU coolers like Noctua's NH-D14 or NH-D15. they are air coolers but have exactly or better performance than some all-in-one water coolers. the NH-D15 is has almost identical performance to a Corsair H110

If I leave it idle for 15 min. or so it goes down to 23-27 degrees, now, in my head that just seems too low to be achievalbe on at broken pump? I could try and send it back to Coolermaster and see what they say, but I'm not sure, It's kinda my fear that the pump is dead too.

Also, sometimes it makes this ind of machine rattling noise, so I think that is if isen't dead, It's about to die on me.

is there air in your system? because if you have air bubbles it would cause this sort of thing, and damage your pump.

The Coolermaster seidon 120m is a closed loop watercooler, so it would be a wonder, and i have no idea how it would get in here... but maybe

Do you get any RPM signal from the pump? Check the cable to the CPU block, that it's plugged in properly etc. Coolermaster has instruction videos on how to mount it if you're unsure about that.

I don't trust those AIO coolers as far as I could throw my truck. All it takes is one bit of loose fitting or one tiny whole in a tube, or improperly bled during manufacturing to let in a tiny bit of air. Its just too flaky and I am too paranoid. I would go air or custom water cooling all day over an AIO cooler.

The LED on the pump lights up, so it's defently plugged in, and it's first today I've gotten problems, yesterday it worked just fine...

Remount the cooler. Make sure everything is nice and tight.

Touch the pump and see if you feel it pumping. Are you at stock?

I am at stock, and it feels like it's pumping, it's defently vibrating, but that could just be the fans in the case? or is the pump?

you shouldn't be able to mistake the vibrations on the pump with vibrations from fans...when you put your hand on it, it should feel like its doing something.

Yes, but do you get a RPM signal?A stable RPM that ramps up with heat would indicate that the pump works.

Pretty much all fan headers on your MB reports RPM, so it wouldn't matter much where you plug it in. I have the same motherboard :)

Feels like it then, almost certain it's running.

put a screwdriver on the top of the pump and listen with your ear to the end of it. an unisolated screwdriver, you can hear the pump spinning.

This is an old trick car machinics use alot, to hear strange sounds from inside an engine part.

Did you properly clean the paste before reaplying ?

Maybe try reaplying with new thermal paste ? I seem lost , if it's pumping and the fans are turning and you have not touched the voltages , I don't see what could be wrong .

Yep, everything's right, that's why I'm so confused, I did clean it proberly with 99%isopropal alchohol and coffee filters, everything's running, and I didn't touch the voltage, I'm so confused...

Would you guys recommend getting another cooler? maybe if i can shave enough money of my budget a custom loop?
