$800 Build

I'm planning on upgrading my rig and have a budget of $800. This is what I have so far: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/JordanBlake/saved/VmWJ7P

The goal of the rig is to build something to game on, mostly a casual gamer at the moment but I would like to get more into PC gaming. I also intend on using this to do graphic design in programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. I chose the graphics card because I currently have a EVGA 560 and have been happy and would like to continue my patronage. (Yes, I've looked into a R9 280 so you don't need to bring that up.) I'd like it to be a long lasting machine with room for upgrades if needed.

I just would like confirmation that this would work well for what I need(I don't plan on overclocking). I'm planning on upgrading my peripherals once Christmas rolls around and I have more money to throw at this.

This is about the best $800 will buy ...

Changed a few things up to make it have a longer lifespan

  1. mobo upgraded to best and newest you can afford
  2. upgraded CPU cooler
  3. upgraded ram to 1866Mhz ... the sweet spot for the mobo + CPU
  4. upgraded hard drive to a longer lasting model
  5. upgraded PSU to 600w for future GPU upgrade headroom
  6. had to change case to afford upgrades and fit CPU cooler

I would highly recommend the R9 280 GPU and save $70 and get a much faster GPU

I give in. I'll go with the r9 280. Haha and thanks for the other suggestions helps a lot.

Consider this

  1. upgraded CPU FX8350
  2. 2TB hard dive
  3. much faster GPU
  4. less than $800

.

Ok. My question now is, should I go with a case that has front panel usb 3 and hold off on the CPU cooler as I don't plan on overclocking?

The CM EVO 212 will extend the lifespan of both the mobo and CPU ... highly recommend it. The only problem with the Corsair spec 3 case is that the CPU coolers that fit are expensive or very loud.

You can buy a 3.5" & 5.25" panel that fits where old floppy drives went with USB 3.0 jacks in it for $24

SEDNA - 2 Port USB 3.0 3.5" Floppy Bay Front Panel (2 x type A connector ) with 5.25" mounting kit included
