Hey I made a post a few days ago about a roughly 700 dollar build and got some good feedback I came into a little extra spending money and bumped it up to 800 dollars and i think I made a pretty good build for the price point. Can you guys help me "trim the fat" like if there are cheaper parts that i missed to replace some of what i have on there or does my build look pretty solid? Thanks for any of the help.
P.s. I already have a Hdd and a cd drive
P.p.s. I dont plan on overclocking this rig anytime soon so i think the cooler i picked should be adaquate.
looks very nice to me.
infact. that's one of the cheapest 7950s i've seen
no reason to get a 990FX unless you plan to crossfire/SLI, the only big difference between a 970 and 990FX is that the 990FX supports 2xPCI-E 8x crossfire/sli whereas the 990FX supports 2xPCI-E 16x Crossfire
also no reason to get 16GB since you wont be able to utuilize it unless you do virtualization or specialized tasks that require more than 8GB
other than that, looks good
Sir i can help you trim some off, do you want 8 cores or even need them? I recomend this :http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd8320frhkbox FX8320, it is the same as the 8350 but only at a lower clock (3.5 vs 4.0) The performance will be just about equal, but you save $26. You can also trim it some more by purchasing a FX6300 here : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-cpu-fd6300wmhkbox It is 6 cores, for the $130 price tag it is a real bargain and honestly in gaming i think it is plenty. It will also save you $46 over the 8350, that you can use to maybe purchase a HD7970 or even a GTX670.
We can also sacrifice the 16gb of ram for only 8GB, that is another $29 off. We can go on and on with this good sir, one last thing i recomend is you remove that CX600 and replace it with a XFX650 like this : http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1650snlb9 It is $4 then the Corsair, it has a 5 year warranty , a stronger 12v rail and it is a proper good deal.
well i heard that the 970s people had problems with the new architecture of the 8350's so I didn't want to take any chances. And im planning this build to be future proof and easily upgradeable. No games will utalize the 16 Gb of ram? If not ill save that to buy at a later date.
no games currently released use more than even 4GB, in fact skyrim and some others are not capable of using mroe than 2GB
I want the 8 cores so the build will be "future proof" for a little while. Is the 8320 really the same as the 8350 and all i have to do is overclock? that sounds pretty good to me. And thanks i just swapped out power supplies thanks for the heads up now im really considering dropping that extra 8gb of ram. Hmmm
ok yeah goodbye extra 8 gb of ram
Yes the difference is mainly the .5ghz clock which you can do easily with the 212 cooler. That cooler change plus the ram to 8gb and maybe you can squeeze a GTX670 or a HD7970 into your system for even more performance for the same value.
Skyrim can utilize more than 2GB of ram since the last patch :) Other than that I agree with you :)
Scrap the RAM, the 16 GB is really unnecessary. I recommend grabbing two, four GB sticks of DDR3-1866. It'll be about the same price but your performance should increase quite a bit.
i would recommend cutting 8gb of the ram and if u r using this mostly for games i would go with a 6300, i understand wanting the 8 core for future proofing but games still dont make full use of 4 cores so it will still be future proof and by the time games use 6 cores i think a new system would be in for order anyway
well actually after some further research i dropped the amd cpu all together and am getting an intel 3570 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vevk here is my new build jut swapped out the mobo and cpu.
http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ Dropped the corsair powersupply in favor of a 450 watt xfx one
