$800 budget PC

So, I want to build a PC for a friend that I convinced to go into PC gaming and leave consoles alone. He has around 900 for everything and I think 100 is good for peripherals. But I dont know much about PC building, so I wanted to see what you think and see if anybody could help. Thanks!

get a ssd whenever you have the cash...

Well, I'm not sure if you need an OS or whatever.

Tower Only(SLI capable): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kvBP

Tower + OS(no SLI w/o PSU upgrade): http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kvEO

Sir, I hope you know what you're doing...

That motherboard will not handle an FX-8320.  Not in its lifetime.  It lacks the cooling.

That R9 280X is out of stock.  And the next seller has it marked up at 400 bucks, and it's still out of stock.

Overkill power supply.  It's too much even if you overclock, and it won't hold two R9 280Xs.

Power supply has weak +12V rails.  It has a total of 4 +12V rails, and makes it difficult to balance the correct components on rails for relatively new builders.

Basically: No.

Heres something that seems to fit the bill of what you're looking for. This doesn't include a copy of windows for an OS but I'm sure you can figure something out about that (you know what I mean)

or this actually http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kIew

I would stick to the list I have just changing the case to the one you like (although that apevia case is OOOOLD and from like 2005 and lacks a ton of features/value) and adding the wireless adapter. The 7870 = 270X it just has a fancier name and new cooler design because of marketing. Also the 7870 that you chose is out of stock on newegg .. got to actually check out the availability of items lol. AMD cards (7800 series and 7900 series) are hard to find lately because everyone is jumping on the litecoin mining bandwagon. The power supply that you picked out is way too overkill and overpriced for this budget of a system. The hyper 212 and NZXT T40 trade blows in cooling performance .. whatever one floats your boat really.  You also should REALLY consider branching to using Amazon because that 120gb ssd for 80$ is a stupid good deal. Amazon prime is also pretty damn epic and you can free trial that for 30 days. 16GB ram is overkill unless you've got something going on where you're rendering videos all the time.

Do you think a BitFenix Prodigy could work?

Not with the current list of parts .. the motherboard is too big for a prodigy.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kMWF and like this? Could this motherboard work?

You cannot use the ITX version of the Bitfenix Prodigy with FX-series processors.  There are no M-ITX boards for AMD's FX-line.

No prodigy, but this will work much, much better: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2kWy1
