8.1 Bloatware re-adding itself

So when I perform a clean install on any of my 8.1 systems (I have 3). I immediately uninstall all the bloat that I can. Skype, Calculator, News, WEather, etc. It always reinstalls itself. I thought it might be a bad ssd, not performing trim properly or something. However, it is happening on all my systems. They all are ssd based (1 corsair, 1 pny in raid, and an adata). I have googled this and havent found a single thread or article on this. Anyone else experiencing this? Its weird too. Not all of the bloat comes back. Only some of what I have already uninstalled does. Like maybe weather and news and traveling, and a week later skype is back on. I am running 8.1 x64 Pro on all of them, avast on two of them, and avg on the third. Also running Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes on all of them. I remove registry with ccleaner, thinking the reg might have to do with it. Still to no avail.

It's not a problem, it's a feature. MS-Windows doesn't have any problems, it's always user error, that's why Microsoft has included the feature of locking all users out of the control of their machine, so that there can be no user error anymore.

How is it user error? Lol, uninstalling is the only user error. If it was user error for the reinstalling, I would go to microsoft and download and install skype. This is just annoying. I guess I gotta just uninstall the bloat whenever it re adds itself. Microsoft, your a peice of crap company for doing this. Why, cause I don't want you to be another verizon with all their freaking bloatware that is uninstallable. I mean NFL mobile? Who uses that? And I used to be rooted and unlocked, but some how a ota update got installed over cyanogen mod and now I can't unlock my note ii. Awesome....

disable windows auto updates and that should stop the install of the program

Okay have done so, it is set to just search.

It was a cynical remark, but there was nothing untrue in my remark.

The only user is not uninstalling, it's having installed Windows in the first place.

Regain control over your PC, dump Windows! Switch to linux, come to the dark side, you'll never have to bend over and be raped by some human rights violating greedy corporation ever again...

True, but for my purposes, as 90% of people who use windows, linux is not an alternative. When Adobe Master Collection, MS Office, and 100% of the games I play are linux based, I am never switching. The only linux machine I have is my torrent/backup box. I remember logan even saying linux isnt an alternative in an episode of the tek. If I recall it was about how gimp is not an alternative to windows/mac only software. So in truth windows is better than mac, for the support of software and games, and mac is better than linux. Linux is third in line for me. I need support for acrobat pro, I dont want to use wine, I a mean. I am one of those people who want things to work when you pay premium for them. When they require hacking/modding/slightly more complex ways to get it running (which is useful to know). I need drivers for my hardware to be supported, such as corsair link or my anker or corsair mouse. They are supported via HID, but not the software side. As in I cant use corsair software to set profiles on my k90 or on my anker.

Exactly Linux is not and never will be a replacement for windows for the vast majority of the market if it works for you sure go use it nothing wrong with that but trying to force it on people (which far too many people do) or trying to argue it is in any way a replacement for windows is beyond idiotic

Simply put Linux depends too much on the terminal to get things done for the average user and it seriously lacks software support which is never likely to improve, Linux simply does not have the market share to get support IIRC its around 1.5% of the global market and considering that OSX which is ~8% has abysmal support im sure you can imagine why especially considering that 1.5% is split across an insane number of distros support isnt exactly a top priority for most developers

Until Linux becomes more unified and user friendly things are very unlikely to change and even then its a matter of drawing users from Windows which they have most likely used most of their lives and are perfectly happy with to a new OS which lacks support for applications they are used to which isnt exactly going to happen overnight but the huge circlejerk around how gaming is 'moving' to Linux (which still does not cover the vast majority of users) since SteamOS was announced would have you think it will all happen in an instant when in reality with around 8% of the number titles on steam supported by Windows (Linux is around 446 IIRC windows is about 11,000) and 1.26% of all Steam users compared to 95.25% for windows its not moving anywhere its firmly rooted where it is and really that is again very unlikely to change which really is shame if it had the support id move over to Linux in an instant but it does not so I will continue to happily use the perfectly serviceable OS which I have been using my entire life, windows

Anyway OP onto your problem I honestly have no idea why that would be happening, I uninstalled all the Metro apps and have seen nothing of them since though I dont have auto update on perhaps that has something to do with it?

Well, you paid premium for it to just work, that's what it's doing, don't complain that you have no control over your system if you don't want to take control over your system, just be glad that you've paid premium for Microsoft to take control over you. You've paid premium to know that it's user error, whatever your system does, because MS-Windows is the best right? Well good on you...

You do realize that HP is sacking almost 50000 people right now because your "vast majority of the market" isn't buying into it any more, right?

On the other hand, 1500000 linux computing devices are sold every single day since the last two years.

Oh, and MS-Windows being outlawed in China and de facto in Germany since last week for all government computers and government supply chain computers, isn't going to do a lot for your "vast majority of the market".

It's as Darwin said, adapt or perish, at least you know your fate, that's nice, good on you...

Go ahead and explain how a government switch to Linux is at all outlawing anything sure because of EU law they would not be able to switch back without effectively open sourcing it that is in no way shape or form outlawing windows nor is it going to even dent market share

And its not exactly news that the market for PCs isnt exactly growing no matter what OS they are running which is largely down to the vast majority of users having something that works and having no reason to upgrade because its good enough its not exclusive to companies producing windows boxes

id also love to hear you claim that ~90% of users worldwide isnt the vast majority because it kind of is

Im not trying to argue that Linux wouldn't be better if it had the software support because it sure as hell would and im not the only one who would switch in a heartbeat if that support came but as it stands for the majority those ~90% of users who are using windows right now Linux is not a viable option largely for that reason

Should I disable the store entirely? I had done that with my past install, but I got a new ssd on my main rig and I decided to do a clean install. I actually dont think that happened with my last build actually. I am going to turn auto updates back on for windows. Anyways I dont even use the store, you cant use it without being logged in with a microsoft account, which I haven't done ever. Besides the one time I had to, to upgrade from windows 8 to 8.1. I think microsoft saw people not giving them user credentials (the majority of people who know better). Instead of making it a normal service pack upgrade, it counted as an entirely new os, so for "security" they forced you to upgrade via the store. Which it is just a service pack update, I mean nothing really new was added besides the start button. Anyways I am gonna disable it via reg and see what happens.

I would say Ubuntu all the way for a linux distro. It has the widest range of software comparability. It actually is pretty (aesthetically) and is update on a regular basis. Better yet, it is free unlike red hat. Red Hat is good for business (maybe), but that is why they have Fedora. It is the free version of Red Hat pretty much.

Here you go.

http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-remove-all-stock-third-party-modern-ui-apps-from-windows-8-rt/

That should help. Windows doesn't like you to uninstall stock modern apps.

Also, Zoltan. This is the windows section. Please refrain from bashing windows and not answering the questions. Even though Linux is superior, there are circumstances that prevent people from using it, Either a specialized application, or just their personal preference.

That and the freaking SkyDrive that syncs to the cloud even if you turn it off EVERYWHERE... I'm sorry but what are you syncing I have nothing in my documents folder!?!?

Please, go away and come back with your preaching when desktop Linux is actually decent, because at the moment it isn't, and that's why almost no one uses it.

Group Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Windows Components -> SkyDrive -> Prevent the usage of SkyDrive -> Enable

Not that I am any sort of an expert in this Linux/Windows/OSX market, but I just wanted to drop my 2 cents in and just simply say:

I have used Windows all my life, but I am not ready to move to Linux...at least, kick the tires a little bit before going full fledged.

I do wish Linux had greater support as even Wine couldn't emulate some of the important softwares I run.

I kinda agree with this. What's the point of always bashing Windows? Like Windows, Linux also isn't perfect!
