My mind is kinda set on the Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC Edition 3GB but I would love to know what others rate as the best of these cards and why... Cooling ability, fan noise and any other little perks and quirks you guys think are relevant please share

(prices are in AUD so dont mind them)

1. What are you doing? if you're going to be doing rendering and adobe stuffs, get a 680.

2. if you're not,.. then      7970 > 670

Nah not rendering or anything like that.. Just gaming and general purpose multimedia - sick of lag motions and stuff...

Any prefered 7870?

I think you mean 7970. If so, then I would get an MSI Twin Frozr or an Asus. Asus DCII 7970s are insane! Looka t the review Logan did a few days ago. It will murder lag motions :)

I think you mean 7970 not 7870,....

Do some research on what companys card has the best cooler, warranty, and stuff outa the box. Logan just did a review on the ASUS 7970 direct CU II card, Asus has one of the BEST coolers out there but it's a little pricy (@500), and it takes 3 whole slots.

But it really boils down to what company have you have good relations/products in the past, I know i've had great stuff come through MSI for video cards, and gigabyte for mobos

But if you can find a 680 with 4GB of vram for cheap, you might want to get that, because as games utilize more and more vram, having more vram will future proof your card a little more.

bottom line, amd typically has a better bang for your buck with their 79xx series, i'd go with a 7970 with the company i like the most.
