7970: prices are starting to waver

Over the last two weeks the prices of most 7970's on amazon.co.uk have dropped about £30, most still hang around the £300 mark ( which translated into american is $460 dollars).

Is it worth waiting a little longer before I purchase a 2nd one to go in my machine for crossfire?

I am thinking that it will drop a bit more once the new ati cards are released.

I have my heart set on another one of these

Ignore the low base clock, it overclocks to 1.1ghz easily and still stays pretty cool and quiet.

I am thinking that a lot of people who have 7970's will probably do the same as me and just buy a 2nd card as I doubt anything but the really high end will compete with the price vs performance of just getting a second card.

Amd have *promised* better drivers for frame rating by the end of this month so I dont mind taking another gamble on crossfire.

It does look like the price has been on a slightly downward trend, but I wouldn't say it's heading towards a major drop anytime soon. I'd say if they just dropped £30, not a bad idea to pick them up. Last I heard the new ATI cards weren't due out until at least October?
