7970 Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme

Hey guys, I have had a Radeon 7970 for afew months (Visiontek AMD reference) and it has been running really hot. After the few months of listening to this card sound like a jet engine I finally forked up the money and bought an Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme 7970 GPU Cooler. After reading more reviews I have come to realize that this card has a tendency to short out GPU's.

Basically I am wondering if there is a way to make the installation less risky, for example buying thermal tape or after market thermal adhesive. Thanks for the help!

Does the cooler cover the memory and power delivery systems in addition to the GPU? You should definitely take the old thermal paste off and put some new stuff on. I recommend Arctic Cooling MX-4. It's the best stuff on the market performance-wise, it's non-conductive so you won't have to worry about a short if you get any on the pcb, and it has no cure time.
