No, even at PCIE Gen. 4 at X8 width, there isn’t a video card yet that can max out that bandwidt.

I’d have no hesitation with that setup. I run my ProArt X670E board with two video cards at X8/X8 for compute and don’t have any bandwidth constraints.

fwiw on my other system I have a dual GPU setup with one of the GPU’s being on the chipset with reduced lanes, and never had an issue with data bandwidth there either.

PCIe 4.0 x8 is still pushing 16GB/s. And I am not aware of any real penalties from running on the chipset either.

I’ve only ever see some slowdown on PCIe Gen. 3 X4 for some Einstein@home science applications and some GPUgrid@home science applications. X1 certainly does not fly any generation.
