A gtx 760 will be a downgrade and a GTX770 will be a sidegrade.

the 7950 would eat a 760. if anything i'd keep it for now until prices drop, but if you can't wait for an upgrade go for the 770
I have a 7950. (stole it for $169 back in Sept 2013 (NCIX warehouse sale)). They are awesome cards. OC'd they can compete with stock clocked 7970's.
If I were you, I'd just keep it. Which 7950 do you have?
Holy damn. That is a steal! At 169?Are you for real?
I bought mine around the same time as you but on Amazon(i don't live in the Americas).Got it for $240. It was the MSI TF3 OC Edition.Haven't overclocked it yet. That being said,i always thought the 7950 was more on par with a 760,rather than a 770.
I got my TF3 for £180 in the uk before the crazy price hike what overclocks have you goten out of yours? i have mine running 1100mhz core 1500mhz mem with no voltage increase.
I suppose if you can afford an R9 290, then you could sell the 7950. The 7950 is still quite a good card.
I got mine for $210 USD.
Haven't overclocked it yet. I however have heard that the 7950 is quite the card to OC.
Is your stock clock 960mhz with the 7970 pcb? I ask because my idle temp is 38-40C(ambient 30-32).Is that normal?
Yes thats about normall (i have the same one) ambient here is around 25c and the card lde's at 32-35c

Barring the fields that are affected by the OC,mine is pretty much the same.Haven't overclocked it yet.Still at 960mhz.How much of a performance boost do you see?
Yea,have that card.Same 7970 PCB. Sadly the BIOS can't be flashed to "upscale" the card into a 7970.
Did you just slide the sliders in the afterburner program to get the clock speeds you posted?Or is it more convoluted than that?
… … … … … … … … … …hi
around 10-15% fps depending on the game some games like the memory clocked higher some game's just like the faster core speed some dont realy change.
Its realy the minimum fps that gets the best boost.
Much better in benching.
i got mines for 180, it's a xfx double D edition
Not realy, a upgrade from a HD7950 is a GTX780 or a R9 290 outherwise its kind of pintless anless you realy need cuda for something?

The 7950 s plenty good for 1080p gaming. The general rule for upgrading cards is when the new is two tiers or so ahead of the current card. Like cooperman said, the 780 would be an ideal upgrade.
But a 780 is kinda overkill for 1080p.
Yeah, I bought mine 14 months ago for $300. I managed to get 1150/1500 with no voltage increase.
It runs everything I want on basically max (except maybe some AA and AF) with 30+ FPS, including Crysis 3. Hell, on BF3 it pulls 60 extremely consistently and I've seen it get up to 80. Point is, the 7950 is a great card still, and if you're only gaming on 1080p, I don't think it's worth an upgrade.
Unfortunately it does struggle to run my heavily modded skyrim using most of the mods Logan uses.
Yeah, I waited outside in line for half a day just to get into the NCIX warehouse sale. By the time I got in it, most of the good stuff had been snatched. That was until I spotted the LAST Windforce 7950 hiding among a sea of 7850/7870's. I was very lucky to say the least.
This Gigabyte card is voltage locked, but despite that it still overclocks very well and I've seen some really good improvements in many games. Typically between 5-15%. I only OC it when necessary, though. Like when playing Crysis 3 maxed out at 1080p. Have a quick preset for OC and default clocks so I can switch it in a moments notice.
