7950 OC Issue

Hi guys, I've been overclocking my AMD 7950 (MSI Twin Frozr III version).  It is stable using MSI Kombustor and when I play it on Skyrim (with a heck of a lot of mods) but it crashes every 30 minutes or so on Battlefield 3/Medal of Honor Warfighter.  I was wondering if it was something to do with my overclock voltages as its the first time I've ever overclocked so far as to adjust voltages, but I've read that this card is great for overclocking.  I think its the one with the 7970 PCB (please help me to identify this).

When on BF3 overclocked I run it at 2560x1440 with everything maxed out with the exception of the AA which is turned off.  I get a temperature around 70-72c which I think is still within the acceptable range.  It runs cooler on Skyrim because its a less demanding game I know that.

Anyway here's my overclock settings, let me know if I'm doing anything wrong here or if I can achieve a more stable overclock with a different setting.  Heck let me know what you've managed to get out of this card.  I tried to enable to "unofficial overclocking" in MSI Afterburner but when I do that the display becomes jittery so I can only reach 1100mhz (I've heard people going way past that with no issue).

Core Voltage: 1144mV
Memory Voltage:  1656mV
Aux Voltage: No value here
Power Limit: +20%
Core Clock: 1100Mhz
Memory Clock: 1340Mhz

I'm also running an i5 3570k at 4.5Ghz with a Corsair H60 with push pull configuration (2x Noctua NF-P12s).  I have a Haf X case with seemingly decent airflow.  Is 62c (load) 30c (idle) good for my CPU?  My GPU runs 29c idle.

Thanks for your help if you need more info please let me know! I hope I've not included too much info lol.

Because BF3 and the frostbite engine love to FK with OC's your gonna need to bump the voltage up, i know that for BF3 to be 100% stable on my OC i need to bump it up 23mv from what everything else is stable at.

With the clock speeds remaining the same and the temperature not rising I am still having the issue with higher voltages.  I've tried a Core of 1169mV and Memory of 1688mV and I'm still getting the BSOD crash.  The CPU isn't going over 62c either so I don't think its to do with that.  Am I not increasing my voltages enough?  Are these too low for the card?

Wait what, why are you increasing your Memory voltage, you dont need to do that, leave it at 1.5v

and if that still happens try another OC program.

1.5v?  It's default is 1.6v is this how it should be?  I've changed the voltage but still having the same issue.  I have an MSI card and its using MSI Afterburner, when I have tried ASUS GPU Tweak there are no voltage control options.

When overclocking your card always up the core clock until you find the max stable numbers for it. Then mess with the memory clocks. Most of your gains will come from the Core clock. I have my 7950 at max voltage 20+ power limit 1180 core clock and 1500 memory. Thats the most i could get out of mine. I can run some games with 1.225 voltage but other require max like crysis 3 etc so i just leave it at that. temps never go over 75c.

I'm currently using the MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 9, in the section for Unofficial overclocking mode what should I select?  I'm using 1 7950.  The options are disabled (which I assume disables the overclocking mode), with PowerPlay support or without PowerPlay support?

Thanks for your help with some clock speeds it gives me a point to aim for or at least use for some sort of refence.  I'm wondering if perhaps I'm just not pushing the core voltage high enough.

Yea it's just those other games require more voltage from the card and you're not feeding it enough so it crashes. Not sure i have version 2.3.1. In settins under general tab i have all the compability properties checked. That is the only thing i changed in settings.
