7950 Crossfire Problem?

Just got another 7950, same model as my current one, and the second one is constantly maxed out until I close my game (doesn't matter what game)  and it ramps up the fan's even though its not being used. Everything is set to default and its making my first GPU spike a lot randomly.
anybody know whats causing this even in games that don't support crossfire? sometimes it stays high even when idling at the desktop.

What drivers? Motherboard?

Does the GPU work fine when it is the only GPU in the system?

i've noticed this in my when i had R9-270x in crossfire. one card would stay idling at lets say 300mhz while the other card would be maxed out running at 1120Mhz (R9-270x Normal Clock on a ASUS Direct CU II Top) the card that is maxed out is the one is connected to your monitor while the other one is idling normally. if you disable crossfire then the temps both cards will idle normally i think if my memory serves me well. so i would say one card maxed out is due to crossfire being enabled. so overall i believe this is normal.

Unfortunately its normal. Wish they would come up with a way to load balance their gpus.

I'm curious if their dual GPU cards have the same issues.

Good ??? mmm yet more research.

yeah, perfectly fine

all the drivers are the current release (not beta)  and the motherboard is ASUS m5a99fx Pro R2.0

that sucks that it's normal, thanks for the input!
