7870 XFire GPU Usage

So to kick things off here is my system specs.

  • AMD FX8350 (4.0 Ghz)
  • MSI HD7870 (x2 CrossfireX)
  • Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
  • Corsair XMS3 4GB (x2)
  • Corsair CX750
  • All encased in a nicely ventilated Zalman Z11 Plus

 

When I use Radeon Pro to display things like the clock speeds, temps of the cards and core utilisation I'm only getting about 30% on my second 7870. This is when I join an empty server on Battlefield 3 so I really doubt that CPU bottlenecking is an issue here.

Does anyone have any idea why I may be getting only a third of the GPU usage out of my second card that I'm supposed to be getting?

If anyone has any tips as to how to optimise Battlefields CrossfireX support then please let me know. Just trying to get this sorted before Battlefield 4 is released in the UK.

All i can say is get the latest drivers from AMD...13.10 right now.  Also, just for giggles, make sure that V Sync is off before game play.  Also check your crossfire bridge is on correctly...if you have another, swap it out as the bridge might be going out.  Finally, make sure that you are not playing in windowed mode as crossfire does not function in this mode. Other than that, I am out of ideas...sorry.
