7870 vs 7950

i was woundering if the 7870 is the same thing as the 7950 if not better??

because the 7950 has 3gb which is better for 3monitor gaming

but the 7870 is meant for 1monitor and it has a higher clock speed

there are so many more factors than just clock speed. and these days, almost every GPU can be overclocked easily

typically though a 7950 beats the 7870

wht about the 66ti?

the 7870 and 660ti are very close, but in alot of games take bf3 for example, nvidia does come out on top. (<10% in some cases)

otherwise 7950 beats the 660ti

overall though, the amd card give you more for your money. is 10% more frames on bf3 really worth the extra $50? (typical price, they'll vary depending on sales and oem partner)

whats a good brand for the 7950 and will it also fir in the cooler master haf XB?

Notes/Things to look for (not in order)

1. if you're buying this high end of a card, you're stupid if you don't overclock it, so stock clock rate doesn't matter too much.

2. buy from a company that offers a good warranty and has a good customer satisfaction. i've heard way too many RMA failure storys

3. When i make a build i like to have the internals match in color, so depending on what your case/mobo is, this might influency your buy

4. COOLING! get a good cooler obviously, i'm not going to explain, so read this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7950-review-benchmark,3207-14.html

5. PRO-TIP: never buy a reference AMD card, they're hot and loud (look no further than the 6990)

6. size, can your case support a 3-wide card? do you have 3 open expansion bays on your mobo? ASUS and HIS make some 3-wide cards

When i build my computer at the end of the summer, i'll be buying an MSI 7950 for my build (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HNlr if you want to know)

and as for the case, i think it should, i've seen linus put a TITAN in smaller cases.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/I54X  is that a good 1100$ build (pc part picker dosnt hav the case i want which is 99$)

Yes it is a good build, But unless you're overclocking your cpu, i see no reason to get the h110

psu is over kill though your system takes about 400W using a 750W psu? you can drop it to a 600W and be safe 650W if you're going to be doing extensive overclocking

TIP: if pcpartpicker doesn't have the part, you can add custom, with link and price

Hi,

I had a query, If you overclock your card, you loose your warranty. Right ?

If so, RMA is useless ?

In most cases, yes, i think (don't quote me on that)

In my experience, yes

Go for XFX or Sapphire over MSI cards. XFX has a lifetime warranty and Sapphire is pretty damn good. I also don't like MSI motherboards, I can honestly say I've never had a good experiance with one.

heh, to go along with that, I trust gigabyte & ASrock for mobos,

I cna honestly say i've had only good things from my current MSI gpu

but i trust ASUS for anything, they seem to put A LOT of heart into everything, GPUs, mobos, full laptops, ASUS does a good job.
