I purchused a 7870 ghz edition and I was wondering what my options were for using crossfire. Do I need to buy another 7870 for crossfire to work or can I buy a different card to crossfire with it (like a 7950)? Also, would crossfire even be worth the money to do?
No you cannot buy a 7950 to crossfire with a 7870, it must be of the same chip. Which in your case would be a 7870, I would not bother though as a 7870 is a decent card which can run most games. I would wait untill the next gen of cars comes out and sell your 7870 to get an 8870 or something. even something higher if you wish.

Also if you want to stay low in price but have great proformance get two 6870`s they overclock and crossfire very well and I have learned this from doing it.
