7850 1GB or 7850 2GB? Need answer ASAP!

Ok people of Tek Syndicate I need your wisdom.

 

My nan (grandma to Americans) has said she will get me a graphics card for Christmas. So I have went with the 7850 as it seems to be the best graphics card around for the price.

 

Here in the UK I can get a MSI Overclocked 1GB 7850 for £130. This comes with Far Cry 3 for free and 20% of Medal Of Honor. Or for £143 I could get the XFX 2GB witch comes with Sleeping Dogs and Dirt Showdown.

At the moment the games are irreverent as I want to know witch card is best for the money. However I would love Far Cry 3.

Anyhow the 7850 will be going into my own built PC witch has a OCZ 750w PSU, Ivy Bridge 3550 3.3ghz CPU and 8gb RipJaw RAM. This PC is hooked up to a 42" 1080p HDTV and will forever remain hooked up to it (or until I build a new PC in a few years time).

 

So I wont be using all this crossfire business and I wont be hooking it up to 3 monitors or anything like that. I did a little research on the internet and it seems the reviews really like the MSI. Some even say the MSI 1gb out performs all 2gb 7850s with games on the highest settings. But when it comes to hooking the card up to 3 monitors the 2gb wins hands down.

 

But as I said I wont be using 3 monitors it will be used exclusively on a 42" HDTV.

 

I really need your opinions in the next 11 hours as my nan wants to order it tomorrow morning 10am tomorrow UK time.

Personally I would get the 2Gb version for future proofing that bit extra and for high texture demands you may need it if for example if you use the 2k textures and a bunch of other mods in skyrim.But if youre tight on cash its a great card but its only £13.

Hi, thanks for the reply harry. Paying the extra £13 is fine. Funny enough I just bought Skrim for £7.99 and activated it on steam. Plays fine on the 6670. I have read about the high texture pack for Skyrim and I will be installing that. So if the 2gb will work out better for things like this then I guess the 2gb it is then.

 

But I would like a few more opinion before tomorrow morning. Am going to go off and do a bit more research and see where things stand in the morning. Again thanks for the reply harry.

Yeah, get the 2GB version. If something better is easily in reach, go for it. Have fun with it.

2gb, it's superior.

PS: I know a lot of Americans that say 'nan' and 'nana.' :P
