760G Chipset, And the 970 Chipset!

I know that a 760G Could handle a 125+ Cpu, So could I fit a 6 Core cpu in that, And I do believe at this point Ocing with this Board is out of the question.

Otherwise the 970 Chipset is not as good as the 990FX, However if I wanted a small Oc not a HUGE one, Is that possible?

Depending on wich  6 core cpu you wantto use  a FX6300 or the Phenom II X6 ?

good 970 oc boards are Asus M5A97 evo R2.0 6+2 power phase design, this board support FX2.0 out of box.

of the Gigabyte GA-970A-ud3 8+2 power phase design, notice that if you plan to use the FX6300 on this board, that you make sure you buy the R3.0 version of this board.

the phenom is supported by both boards.

I was thinking of the fx-6300, and I looked up some 970 Asus Boards and sure enough that one poped up, Its a decent price for a nice board! Thinking of going with that one.

Thanks for the quick reply!

my board has the 760G chipset and i can overclock its a asus m5a78l-m lx plus

asus turbo boost will give you a .2ghz overclock regardless

guy has my mobo and a 6100 and hes at stable 4.4ghz

anyway the 6300 and 6100 is only 95W

my plessure.

I have The Asus M5A97 evo R2.0 my self running with a FX8350 ☺

yes but that particular mobo does not support FX2.0 or FX-x3xx out of the box. you need a bios update for that. thats why those 970 asus boards called R2.0 (revision 2.0) they come with bios version 1201, FX2.0 support is at bios version 1101 or later.

I was actually looking at that Mobo at first, But I have decided looking at the deals on the M5A97 le R2.0 Full Atx motherboard, It has alot more features, Prices are just about $75 right now on newegg, (with rebate)

Not bad, and "IF" I wanted I could Oc the crap out of a fx-6300 with a hyper 212 Evo.

But thanks for your reply! I Do appreciate all help when picking a nice up-grade! :)
