Ok... I've been doing research for the past freaking 10 hours now and these are pretty much the 2 builds im looking at.. AMD vs Intel, which is better? And which is more future proofer?
AMD Build:
Phenom II x4 965 BE $90
MSI mobo with 970 chipset $83
Case $26
2x2 crucial 1866 ram $30
ICE Q HD 7870 2gb GDDR5 Ghz edition $220
Corsair CX500M PSU $68
Seagate 7200rpm 1TB sata 3 Hard drive $80
Total $597
Total + taxes + shipping = $708.15
Intel build:
Intel core i5 3570k $227
case $26
Seagate 1tb 7200rpm Hard drive $80
HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 $115
Corsair cx500m PSU $68
BIOstar z77 mobo + 1x8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram $119
total: $635
total + taxes + shipping = $748
Which build is better? Is there anything I could change?
Thx
PS: The reason im getting a Z77 mobo is so I can do major overclocking and because im going to upgrade to haswell or who knows what in 2-3 years.
Hey, interesting choices. I wonder just how much you have to spend in total for your system. The graphics card for you AMD build is very nice. I know because I have one. Any chance you could afford to put that card in you Intel build? Don’t get me wrong the HD 7770 is a nice enough cards but the Ice Q is a very nice card to add to a system. The Intel chip is much more transferable if and when you update your motherboard. Personally I would go with the Intel build. It’s just my 2 cents worth but that’s what you were asking for. Whichever way you go, have fun and enjoy your build.
Well the amd build would be the best for gaming. The best build would be a $750 amd build, swap that crappy 965 for an fx 6300 and spend $20 on the 7870XT which is infinately better than the 7870ghz. You live in america presumably?

I even had room for a highend cooler, 600W psu, 8gb of ram, and the 6300.
The FX-6300 is a much better choice for your AMD CPU. It is very overclockable and the socket will be available in a wide variety of higher end motherboards. I’m using a FX-6300 along with a Gigabyte board and so far no problems at all. Skip the i3 as it is a bit of a step backwards with the builds you have in mind.
i have the amd fx 6300 and a intel i5 2500k all im saying is the amd side is realy a good option like evo80ci dont go whit a i3 cputhe amd fx 6300 is a beast and at the curent price point it a steel if you waunt to know how well some game would run just tell me and i whill be happy to do some benchmark
Meet in the middle of both and could do a 6300 + 7850?! Idk. Just trying to keep your prices down, shame shipping is so much. Get dual channel memory though.
