I've been having some crashes in-game, most notably on Witcher 2 and Metro 2033. I will be in game, then the screen will go black, then my GPU fans shut off, then the game comes back on @ 3-4FPS, then it gradually recovers back up to 60FPS. This has also happened in Metro 2033 and Planetside 2.
I am using stock voltage with an overclock of 53mhz, bringing the cards up to around 1220mhz max. The max temperature I have seen on my GPUs is around 70 degrees, although my latest crash occurred with the temperature at 65 (CPU reaches a max of 62). Any ideas?
I was thinking the same thing might be a possibility...but when I built my system I heard that 750 watts was more than enough. Anyone else have an idea?
What drivers are you running? If you are running 310.90 (or something similar), go find the 306.97 drivers. For some reason the 310.9 SLI drivers has big problems (for me anyways) worth a try though.
It might be the overclock on your 680's. I have a liquid cooled EVGA GTX 680+ 4GB and once the clock gets above 1200-ish MHz it starts to become unstable. I could play some games but once I started Battlefield 3 it crashed so I would try using the default clocks. It will consume less power and hopefully it will fix your problem.
It may not be power requirements. All that stuff with the overclocks probably uses at least 600W but probably a bit more but not even 700W.
I, too, have a GTX 680 SLI set up and on 310.90 I had some weird performance issues and crashes. After I upgraded to today's beta 313.95 I havent had any of those problems, even in Far Cry 3, which has been a crashing son-of-a-bitch. My overclock is to 1213MHz Core and 1727MHz Memory.
