Hi guys,
I was wandering if the Corsair CX600W will be enough to power my build if I add a second Gigabyte GTX660 to my build.
- i5-3570k @ 3.4GHZ (Stock, NO overclocking)
- Stock Intel CPU cooler
- Asrock Z77 Extreme4
- Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
- 500GB Samsung Hard Drive (5400rpm)
- 8GB DDR3 RAM
- 2 Case fans
- Planning to add a SSD somewhere down the road
- I will probably star to overclock the CPU once I get a desent CPU cooler and a single GPU, but not now
Thanks a lot.
Cheers.
no you will want a bigger psu such as a xfx 750w or a corsair tx 750. You need something with 4 pci e connectors.
That's the thing. Gibabyte GTX 660 needs only one 6pin connector and the Corsair CX600 has just the two. So technically I could. But I am not sure. If you add up the watts it seems sufficient and Corsair PSUs are solid, but... I don't know. That's why I'm asking you guys.
The Corsair CX series is an entry level power supply, unlike other Corsair units. So I wouldn't say they were always solid. It is less about the brand and who actually manufactures the units, the OEM.
Though, I would say in theory the CX600 should be able to manage two middle-tier cards. It's not going to leave a lot of headroom. I would prefer to have a better supply, with a better efficiency rating, running this setup.
Roughly 200w per GPU (at least) + cpu 75w + and about 50w for the other stoof.
total of...under 550w! ding ding ding!...its manigable...no worries!
UNLESS!! you have a crappy power..which in this case (pun not intended) you seem to have a worthy PSU
You have headroom to install other components. So dont hurt your head too much...dont overclock excessively though NOT RECCOMENDED....Upgrade power supply first...always want to have some headroom when overclocking
each 660gtx will need 24 amps you will be putting that corsair psu to the test. I wouldnt do that for long term. im sure it wont last a year with that kind of load.
Sorry I miss read I though you had a 660ti not a 660 ok. Ya you can probably run them both on a cx600 then
