£600 Mini ITX/M-ATX Build

Hello guys,

My cousins want a new computer. I have looked at their space and the biggest case they can fit is a Bitfenix Prodigy but that is a large Mini-ITX case so i am sure there are some smaller M-ATX cases. Also the space where the monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers go is quite small plus they sit pretty close to the monitor.

I think a smaller keyboard is needed (TKL i think) and probably a 18.5 inch monitor as i dont want to damage their eyes. They dont need any of the gaming keyboards and mice or a gaming monitor infact. Just a cheap and cheerful set. They also need a wireless adapter for connecting to the internet.

Dont know whether to go AMD or Intel.

Anyway i have made 6 builds, 2 intel and 4 AMD.

Thanks and other recommendations will be considered.

Edit : I have decided the monitor will be 18.5 inch and the resolution will be 1440x900

If your going to go with an amd build you should go with an 6 core fx cpu or an 8 core ie http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rvJZ

I like the look of that build. One thing will that motherboard be able to handle the CPU? Also wouldnt i need a CPU cooler to replace the stock one? Last thing isnt a CX 430 cutting it a bit close? Also i dont want to use a molex adapter to power the GPU. One last thing i have seen a GTX 670 for £179.

Edit : I made this using your build as a guide line. http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rwY6

Swap out the case and mobo in this one, and you should be set (after adding a monitor OFC)

Link provided is the build I intend to get once I get the money

Like it but, it need to be M-ATX or smaller. The space is tiny. Also that RAM is cheap because it says it will be dispatched in 1 to 4 months. Rather spend more and get it now :P. I am pretty happy with what i have built. There wont be any overclocking so this is why i am getting the 8 core instead of the 6 core. Plus the GPU will suffice for their type of gaming and at such a low resolution (1366x768).

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rz9Q M-ATX counter part. Feel free to swap out the RAM. It's more of a place holder really.

i3/660 the i5 isn't worth getting a cheaper gpu, and last i seen i3s were beating vishera quad cores

Dont you think a HD 7950 is a massive overkill for the 1366x768 resolution?

I wouldn't get a octa-core for a low resolution gaming system. Grab a cheaper quad-core like the Phenom or Athlon. You really don't require that much power for 720p.

This is just an example. The 7850 will be plenty

Hyper 212 doesnt fit in the case.

I thought you need to have a stronger CPU to play at lower resolutions.

Also will 4GB RAM be enough for games? I have seen some requirments for newer games that recommend 8gb.

Overkill for the moment. Who's to say that your cousins won't get a 1080p monitor eventually?. Or even a second monitor. Even if they don't. For those resolutions, the GPU will last 4, maybe 5 years. Hell, even 6.

Recommended and minimum requirements are two different things. When I play games at 1440p with max details, my utilisation is never more than 4GB.

So what do you think of this build? http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rA0e

He has saved up £600, he might as well spend it all.

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/1rH2c

why not get an 1080p monitor and an 8 core its still under 600ero

If you can wait the bitfennix prodigy m-atx version is coming out later this year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr4O1hxpITA

I cant get a 1080p monitor because they are all to big, my cousin will sit too close to the monitor and i know that it will damage his eye's.

Also in that build the RAM'S is not included which is why it is cheap.

Good idea but he needs it before he goes back to school in 3 weeks.

Would it be worth getting a 1440x900 resolution monitor over a 1366x768 or 1600x900?

Edit : I would get a 1080p monitor if i could wall mount it, is that a good idea? I think i would be able to fit a 23" monitor.
