My friend and I are building a $600 Gaming Rig ($650 is our budget) and we agreed on the parts that we took, only we're not sure if it is maximum performance for that price. Like there are better parts for that price or even cheaper if you know what I mean.
So This is our setup:
GPU: Not quite sure: MSI R7870 Twin Frozr or Radeon HD7870- $220-230
But why the MSI Twinfrozr? I'm a bit curious and a big bambi when talking about GPU's. Like it has better performance? or better overclocking features?
And is the build okay for a 600 dollar gaming rig?
The twinfrozr is a great cooling solution. Quiet and keeps the gpu cool at the same time. I like the anti-dust feature where the fans spin the opposite direction for a few seconds when you turn on the computer to dislodge dust from the heatsink but I guess if you never turn the computer off then that's moot.
It looks good assuming the processor is a FX-6300 or FX-4300.
Get this over the twin frozr. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127681
It uses the same TwinFrozr company cooler but it's the MSI Lightning's little brother so it overclocks like a beast. MSI has also increased the clock speeds so out of the box you're getting 1100 MHz GPU and 1200 MHz memory.
Read the Features on the newegg link. The card sells itself IMO.
Also if you want a quality case for $50 range. Check out the Corsair Carbide 200R. It's a solid case for the money. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139018&Tpk=corsair%20200r
So it's the bigger brother of the MSI R7870 Twin Frozr your saying? I'll surely discuss this GPU with my friend because it looks awesome and if it's even better then the other one it's worth it. Only one question, can you give me some benchmarking of this GPU? Can't find in anywhere on google.
