$600 build for a friend

Hello everybody

I am going to be helping my buddy put together his first build. He has a soft budget of $600.

This computer will primarily be used for 1080p gaming. I know he will be playing first person shooters and rpgs.

We live in the US and we do have a Microcenter close by, but we're not limited to just microcenter any reputable online retailer would be just fine.

In this build I am going to donate my HIS 7950 iceq (since it just sits in a box and i feel bad) and I have a 120gb ssd for his OS. He currently has all his peripherals and a copy of windows 7. I will be overclocking his cpu so it must be unlocked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

My take on it  http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Tudor/saved/33BzK8

The cpu is $200 at microcenter, only if you pick it up yourself. Good thing you have one near you.

You may have missed the GPU

I'm $3 over

  • CPU AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz Quad-Core  $84.00

  • Cooler Master RR-HT2-28PK-R1 54.8 CFM    $16.99
  • Asus A88XM-A Micro ATX FM2+                       $68.58

  • G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 $74.70
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM               $53.98

  • XFX Radeon R9 285 2GB Double Dissipation  $244.99
  • Case NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower  $29.99

  • Power Supply Corsair 500W ATX12V                  $29.99

estimated wattage    .............384   ................Total:  $603.22       ............................................

best I can do  ... prices suck for the quality lower end stuff

No we already have the GPU, i'm giving my friend my old 7950 since i dont use it anymore.

then do as Dub would do ... I really have been reading too much lately  lol

Thanks for your build but i think we may go with this motherboard instead http://www.microcenter.com/product/433130/Z97-Gaming_5_1150ATX_Intel_Motherboard it's bundled with the i5 at microcenter. But everything else looks great.

+1 looks good.
