Hello,
First time poster here. I have a crosshair VII with 64g ram 3200, CPU was a 2700x that worked fine, also have a RTX3090. I tried upgrading my CPU to a 5950x I am running the 4007 bios.
After i put in the 5950x it tried to post and got a 0d code, after some research i tried to reseat it and the ram. them it would not even turn on the pc. I then put the 2700x back in and it worked no problem. I re seated the 5950x and once again it pc would not turn on. I then resat my gpu with no avail. I reset the computer with the 2700x back to last optimized setting which did nothing .
I may have gotten thermo past in the pins of the 5950x I will try to clean tomorrow and try again.
if there anything else I could try?
Thank you very much
I have an R9-5950X on an ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII (8) Hero WiFi and it works fine.
Are you clearing the CMOS after swapping in the 5950X?
Is the DRAM LED or any other Boot LED stuck on?
Have you tried using the latest BIOS just in case that is the issue (I realize 5950X support started in 4007)?
The Crosshair VII (7) latest BIOS is 5102.
Also check to make sure you didn’t get any thermal paste in the socket itself. It’s not difficult to clean (toothbrush and high percentage isopropyl.) Use canned air, hair dryer (low heat) or low psi air compressor to thoroughly dry out the isopropyl from the socket.
I did try everything then i took a look at it under a microscope and about 7 pins where bent i sent it back for a refund and will by another later.
That explains it. I have an X570 Crosshair Hero and it works flawlessly. Once I flashed the BIOS I had no problem OC’ing the 3800X to 4.2 GHz on stock cooling and ramped up the B-die RAM to 3666 MHz with a CAS of 15-15-15. Could probably tighten those settings a little, but I’m happy with it as it is.
