5870 in cooler master storm scout(i think i figure

Hi I've been thinking of ways to put the 5870 inside the storm scout and i came up with one idea. So someone say Yes or No.

I was thinking of taking out the hard drive cage to open more space for the 5870. Then use 3.5 to 5.25 adapters to mount the hard drives into the 5.25 drive bay. Only one problem with this is that the 5.25 drive bay is still blocking the space for the 5870.(well in my situation anyway since my motherboard made a certain way) This has puzzled me so. So i got one question to ask.

If i put the graphics card in the 2nd pci express slot would the graphics card still work?
If it does work then is there any disadvantages for doing so?

My method is probably the more complicated way. If anyone has any other method please feel free to post.
if this method doesn't work then i still got my handy Dremel tool.

saw off 1/5 of the card. Everything in front is just useless.Just kidding. Err.... if you're really wanting to get that card working, get a dremel and cut off anything blocking the card from getting in there. Funny how my Raidmax Smilodon can fit that easily. Its placed in a manner where if you remove the HDD cage any card will fit perfetly in this massive 17 inch space.

Nobody gives a damn about your plastic, 99 cent store case. I bought a 50 pack of Smilodons the other day. I use them as sandwich bags.

And what the hell is ATi doing making a massive card that can't even fit in people's cases? Watch Nvidia make cards just as big. One day our cases will be half the size of our cars, and our power supplies will run off nuclear power because Nvidia and ATi were trying to busy making their cards uber powerful without thinking of size and power efficiency.

Anyways, putting the card in the second slot will likely give a bandwidth bottleneck, usually the second slot will only run at 8x, however if it runs at 16x then everything will be fine. It depends on your chipset.

I heard that there would be a shorter version of the 5870. Can anyone confirm this? If there isn't going to be a shorter one i get to have some fun with my dremel.

The 5870x2 is even longer, a foot long. :)

How about this idea?
I could fit a 5870 if the cooling part wasn't so big in width. So if i get a after market cooler thats smaller than the one on there in length then i can fit it. Since theres this one open space that could fit part of the video card board but not the whole card with the cooler. So what i am asking in short is...
Are there after market coolers that are shorter(length wise) for the 5870?

that a big card alright!

I actually think its a big mistake that companies are making cards this big, soon full towers will be required and that's ridiculous.

It won't make the PCB any shorter.

But that thing is just half an inch bigger than the GTX 260 C216, isn't it?

I know the board wont be any shorter i just need the heat sink to be smaller. its a case thing
