5820k 4.4 ghz or 4.5 ghz?

So i can overclock my 5820k to 4.5 (GHz) at 1.28 (V) but im able to overclock to 4.4 (GHz) at 1.1 (V) although i just left it at 1.2 (v) because at 1.1 (V) it was trying to take 1.104 (V) so i thought id give it just a little more juice what do you guys think i should do? keep 4.4 at 1.2 v or go for 4.5 or even try to lower the voltage at 4.4
P.S. Hottest core at 4.4 (GHz) is only 65c

Split the difference? Four cores at 4.5GHz, all six at 4.4GHz. Set the voltage to 1.235 and see if it sticks. Hell you may even caox it to run at 4.6GHz on two cores.

I am talking of course about setting them to turbo speeds, so your settings would look like:

  • Core 1 - 4.5
  • Core 2 - 4.5
  • Core 3 - 4.5
  • Core 4 - 4.5
  • Core 5 - 4.4
  • Core 6 - 4.4

vCore - 1.235v (Dynamic, no offset)

And if you're feeling lucky:

Cache - 4.0
Cache voltage - 1.15v (No offset)

will the extra 100 mhz on 4 cores make any difference ??

Of course it will. Doesn't mean it will be noticeable in every application. Free upgrade is free, you just get to decide how much of an upgrade you get.

This is exactly why I don't get why people don't recommend K versions of I5's and I7's when people aren't on a tight budget.

I think that should come with the caveat that the application would need to be rather CPU bound to really make a noticeable difference. Gaming? For the most part probably not. CPU rendering? Probably if it's a long one.

i would say keep it on 4.4GHz.
that 100mhz diffrence you are not going to feel that in the real world.
