5800x 3D only showing 6 cores (fixed)

Hi all, I recently upgraded to the 5800x 3D and noticed that I wasn’t getting the performance numbers that most reviews were getting. I upgraded from a 3600x.

I noticed that in the task manager only 6 cores and 12 threads were showing. I confirmed this through cinabench where only 12 threads show up and only 6 of the 8 cores show as active in Ryzen master, the other two cores remained asleep.

My motherboard is the Asus Prime X570-P, I’ve updated to the most recent bios with AMD AM4 AGESA V2 PI 1.2.0.6b, which is required to run the 5800x 3D.

I’ve seen a similar issue with the 5800x, but the solution requires to hit the “reset” button in the Ryzen Master software, but that doesn’t show up for me since the 3D version isn’t overclockable.

I’m at a loss, pls help :frowning:

I simply re-installed the chipset drivers and rebooted. Then all 8 cores and 16 threads finally appeared and are being used.

I bet it had to do with the chipset ID from the CPU is different from the non Vcache version.

How are you liking the 5800X3D? Looking to upgrade from my 11900 non K in my gaming system to something new and considering the 5800x3d due to cheaper x570 and cheap ddr4 prices
