I just upgraded my wife's PC. I got her, has recomended by Logan, the AMD FX-8350 Black Edition and a Sapphire AMD R9 270X Toxic 2GB GDDR5, I was on a tight budget so I couldn't go with the 280X. I also got a NOX URANO SX 500 Watt PSU and a Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0. It wasn't part of the original plan, but I also ended up having to get her a new case too since I earlier failed to realize that her previous case was a micro-ATX case so I went and got her a Cooler Master K280. Additionaly it has a 8GB Kingston DDR3 module, an LG DVD-R drive and a 500 GB WD Blue HDD. Later on I was planning on adding an SSD.
Now the issues:
1 - I noticed immediatly that the stock cooler, if the case was closed, got really loud. First I blamed it on the case having only the front intake 120mm fan. So I was planing on getting a couple extra 120mm for the side panel and the back of the case. I went online I started seeing people complaining of the same noise issue, I realized then that probably a cooler replacement was in order. And the most recomended cooler was the Cooler Master 212EVO. It was an additional effort but it was also probably the safest way to ensure no more problems would occur.
2 - Having decided on the previous matter something else occured... I was testing a game on her rig, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and right after the character profile creation menu, where you chose gender, class, etc., the whole system just shutdown, It just went out, with no warning. And it wouldn't start until I unplugged it from the power and plugged back again. I tried to run the game again and the same thing happened. Now I don't know if what caused this was a thermal issue or maybe a problem with the PSU not being able to handle the load.
There is also one other thing that might be worth pointing out. The motherboard has a 8-pin ATX 12V power connector but the manual stated that it would still work with a more tradicional 4-pin ATX 12V power connector which is the one that the PSU had so I went with it. Don't know if this really matters to the problem at hand.
Thank you in advance for any pointers, ideas and suggestions.
