Hi All,

I have the following board:

I have built a pfsense router using a usb flash drive as the main storage but would like to use an 2.5 inch sata drive the motherboard has a 5 pin power header for hard drives doees anyone know the cable i need for this cant seem to track it down.

thanks

To my understanding Molex is only a 4 wire (12v, gnd, gnd, 5v) where as Sata power used 5 (12v, gnd, 5v, gnd, 3.3v) with each going to 3 pins in the connector. In a number of cases the 3.3v is optional, proven in molex to sata power adapters. Having said that, the header looks like it should have come with the board and is specific to the board. I'm sure if to can find out which pin is which you could make a cable, others wise it may be a special order.

Best bet is to use a multimeter to test the voltages of each pin.. I searched and couldn't find any sort of diagram. then you would be able to make your own cable...

Thanks for the feedback custom cable it is then.
