So is it me or has there been a real huge drop off of available computer 5.1 speakers ?
Not finding anything for less than $300 USD unless I want to get some kind of generic/no-name brand.
I can find a few 2.1 systems and a ton of blue tooth stuff but what about all us old Analog output folks ?
So since I still have both my older 5.1 speaker systems I will be looking into servicing the one as the volume drops out quite a bit now, maybe some soldering reflow is needed on the amplifier board ?
Any thoughts on this one ?
I do have a nice set of wireless headphones but I really want to not have to use them most of the time.
But of course using them more and more often now due to the speaker issues.
Not sure what the rules on for posting links but on Amazon these speakers will work with a 5.1 sound card (apparently with additional RCA to 3.5mm cables) - Acoustic Audio AA5170 Home Theater 5.1 Bluetooth Speaker System. You can see on the back of the subwoofer where it takes the inputs (which they have labeled as DVD) there is Front L/R, Center, Sub, and Surround L/R, all RCA inputs.
To your point the “nice” Logitech system is $400, so the above is much more affordable ($115).
Going to review the one set that is acting up as it is the oldest set, it is the Creative Labs 5.1 that was made by Cambridge Soundworks.
Going to check the powered subwoofer box, since it has the connections for the external speakers it could be that some solder joint/joints may need to be reflowed/repaired.
