4K TV's as PC monitors?

Tek Syndicate reviewed several 40+" 4K Korean monitors, like the AMH 409. I have seen several 4K TV's for a lower price or for the same price, but but with a higher screen diagonal. What do you think of those? I mean it is annoying that you have to use the remote everytime to turn tchem on, but I have been using a TV as a monitor for 5 years now, so I have gotten used to that. Is there another factor to consider as long as the resolution is UHD and the refreshrate is 60+ Hz?

Thanks,
Kim

I'm waiting for 4k 120Hz.

I just bought a 4k TV to use as a monitor, so I'll gladly share some thoughts.

Primary things to look for:

  1. Panel Type (I bought a Crossover 405k monitor from a Korean seller and returned it due to pixel defects but that hands-on experience told me that I really want an IPS panel for my productivity and non-twitch gaming uses)
  2. Input Lag - If you're a twitch gamer, you're likely going to be disappointed. Many TVs have terrible input lag so do your homework here. Some are bad enough that just moving your mouse around is annoying. And don't go by specs because some TVs have great input lag if you turn colors to 4:2:0 instead of 4:4:4.
  3. Chroma - don't buy anything that doesn't support 4:4:4 when running 4k @60Hz. The end.
  4. HDMI Version - if it only has HDMI 1.4 then it's crap and don't get it because you'll only get 4k @ 30Hz.
  5. Weight & Mounting - The TV I bought is technically 2 lbs over my stand's limit but I still plan to use it. I also had to get an adapter to convert the TV's 300x200 VESA mount holes to my stand's 100x100 VESA size.
  6. TV'ness - By this I mean how it turns on, how it turns off, is it smart and does that cause problems? All sorts of things go into this.

Here's what I bought - still hasn't been delivered so no clue how happy/upset I'm going to be with it yet. But I'm very glad I found an IPS panel at a great price!

Jerry (Barnecules Nerdgasm) has a video on his 50" 4k Samsung TVs. That should be interesting for you.

This is what I'm going to do when 120Hz 4k comes out.

So... Never?
