4K @ 60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma 8bit over HDMI only

Rather than derail OPs thread more I’ll reply to you here. Maybe we can learn something or others can learn.

I am on a TV.

I took some pictures for you now that I’m home from work. I’m not doing anything fancy here. Its a sony XBR55X810C with a regular ol cheapass HDMI cable from newegg (rosewill brand I think but they probably dont actually make it, idk). I am not using the GT 1030 in the picture as I have moved that machine to another TV, instead my wifes 1070 is being used but the result is identical. If that doesnt satisfy you I can hook up the 1030 as well, I’m just feeling lazy after work.

Just to make sure theres no fuckery with the refresh for the sake of chroma

I’m not sure why your vega 64 cant do it but if I had to venture a guess I would say its probably not the card but the TV (or receiver?).

Thank you.

This is helpful. 1070 or 1030 doesn’t matter.

On Blur Buster UFO select 3840 pixel.

In Windows Display settings, select ‘Display adapter properties’, click monitor tab and confirm it is 60Hz.

No need for pics, your word is enough. I am lazy too…

I don’t mind taking pictures if it adds to the authenticity. I’m on my phone anyway. I would think if I had an AMD card with HDMI 2.0 it would work as well as the 1070 but I only have an apu machine which doesn’t have that.

Mine failed on Vega 64s and 980 Tis. I have 3 local friends and several online buddies that could not get it working.

We are all running multi monitor systems though. Perhaps that? I don’t recall trying one panel. My set up looks like this:

No clue but I could try hooking up another 1080p display if you think it matters. I only have the one 4k tv. My main rig is 2 24" 1080p and a 32" 1440p so I don’t have any way to verify if multiple 4k displays cause the issue.

What I do know is my receiver will only pass 4k 60hz at 4:2:0 it’s not until I directly connected to the TV that I got 4:4:4 which is fine because the magic of the Sony garden I’m in makes the tv pass it’s audio to the receiver regardless of tv input. It’s JFM. The TV was definitely not the cheapest one on the shelf in the 55" category either. I think the problems people have mostly lie in the display and not the GPU. Though it is odd that it works with a DP adapter but not natively for you. Perhaps edid information is reported incorrectly or negotiation of the resolutions is limited in some way.

Whoa. You should run Nvidia Surround and Eyefinity on that.

I have run Eyefinity. It is too much in a game like Tomb Raider. But I bet for racing or a flight sim it would be something to behold.

You could very well be right. But it is not just me, everyone I know had to use DP to HDMI, with different brands of TVs. First Sony though is you. We all had to use DP to HDMI.

I have run it on mine. Its ok. Cant leave it like that for normal computer use though. Works well on my setup with most games though.

On my TV there is an option specifically for enabling the use of this mode. Sony calls it “Enhanced HDMI input”. I would imagine other TVs might have a similar option. I feel like theres something that we’ve got to be missing. My TV is nice but I cant see it being that special.

What are those displays you have?

I don’t have that and first I heard of it.

Vizio M50-D1

The TVs I am familiar with for this are Samsung, TCL and of course Vizio.

Have you updated the firmware? That seems to be the general consensus from what I’m seeing. On a side note, that is a metric fuckton of desktop real estate.

Yes, and current.

I would speculate that Sony’s HDMI enhancement option is doing this.

And I could never again live without it. I use it specifically for productivity. I rarely game, no time for it. I do 3D, compositing and video.
