4800 mt/s motherbroard

I am planning to upgrade to the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 as I do not plan to SLI, but want to overclock my Phenom II x4 965 to its full potential. However I was wondering if the 4800 mt/s bus of this motherboard will provide a bottleneck should I ever upgrade to a higher end fx series cpu, such as a 6300 or 8320, or indeed on my current cpu?

I was using the Non-evo version with a FX-6300 running 4.2GHz-4.4GHz with a GTX760 and I can't say I saw much of a bottleneck. If she's about, MisteryAngel uses this board with a fx-8350, she'd be the better judge.

Ok, thanks a lot.

i run this mobo indeed with a FX8350, i did not realy overclock yet, my cpu runs at 4.2 ghz. cause i dont have a good cooler, but i did not notice any bottleneck at all. its just 2400mhz bus speed v/s 2600mhz, but with overclocking you will playing with the multiplier more, so i dont see any issues.

i would not botter to much about it realy, for a FX8320 FX8350  4.6GHZ is the sweet spot. if you realy wanne go to the 5ghz spot then i would recommend a Sabertooth board "or better" anyway.

Heh. Told you she knew more *smirk*

Thanks for the advice. I think I probably will go with this motherboard.

6+2 phase design, you'll get cleaner power than my M5A97 R2.0 did so in theory you may get better and more stable overclocks. Also good for that power hungry Phenom II x4 965.

Yeah I'm going to see how far I can push it at a max of 1.5v.
