4790k build!

http://www.dabs.com/basket

might be able to buy this in a few months depending on money (any tips for a 14 year old who needs to earn some money? I have a console, large rc helicopter, nes with games mint condition, psp with games that I need to sell so maybe £250 from that at a push and if I find anything else to sell. A very generous family that usually spends £500 for Birthdays with out other family members so maybe £650 from that and a birthday 60 days after where I can get non essential parts for a running computer so possible £650 from that. So I will have enough but maybe any tips to get more would help so much.

opinions?

add-ons?

things to consider?

things to remove?

Honestly, I would go with an FX system build, you could get near 4790k performance in most applications and about the same performance in games, and you could spend a heck of a lot less, or spend the money elsewhere upgrading your GPU or SSD etc. That's what I would do...look at it this way, it will be alot sooner you can buy it!.

I don't know, I'm bad at making decisions.

do you know of any decent FX Systems for a decent price?

Yes. One moment, I will build you an AWESOME one, how much do you want to spend? Do you need monitor, keyboard or mouse? I need to know if you have anything specific you really want or need?

If you give me that information I will make a good one for you.

Here's a rough draft of what I would do:

CPU: FX 8320, 8350 or 6300

GPU: R9 270x, 280x or GTX 770

Motherboard: M599FX Pro R 2.0

Cooler: NHD-15, Hyper 212 EVO, or H100i

Case: Corsair 550D, 500R, 200R, but theres endless choices here really, go for quality and features.

Storage: 128GB or 256GB SSD for boot, 2TB HDD WB Blue or Black for Main storage.

Optical drive: OEM Optical 24x unless you want/need Blueray

Fans: NF F12 PWN, or Corsair Quiet Edition

Of course any of this could be modified to your liking, just a general starting point of what I would do if I was building another AMD gaming rig.

BEEP BEEP!

Can make plenty of changes here. Higher quality motherboard, or higher quality case.

£800 around, no need for peripherals but to recommend some would be great. Speed, fractal design R4 is a must, I like blue and black theme kinda so keep that in mind; and i kinda want to spend a bit more on a 8350 because of the 11% better performance so yeah thanks so much.  \m/

Or, if you really want an Intel chip, here's a smaller form factor build:

Thanks Berserker they look cool but I have enough money for a higher end build, around £600-£800? maybe more at a push.

I kept it cheap, since, 14 year olds like to tell fibs about the money they make...! I can jump over my house too, mate!

You could add a higher-performing GPU e.g the R9 290. Ordinarily, I would advise allocating lots of money to the GPU. However, if you're using a 60Hz 1080p display, you might wanna stick with a 280x or 770. Plenty of performance for that kind of panel.

Unless you have a specific requirement, I don't see any reason to upgrade the 8350 or the i5. The i7 doesn't offer any substantial performance increase in gaming. A GPU upgrade is the single, best upgrade that you could make. I don't know if it is warranted.

If you have some budget to allocate to an SSD, you might consider one of the following:

The above models are available in ~250GB, and cost a little bit more.

Here you go! Beast setup! Went 16Gb but don't really NEED it, but gives you some future proofing.Hard to go with blue and black but everything is black basically, except the VRM on the motherboard which will won't be able to be seen anyways.

I would recommend K70 for keyboard, Logitech G502 or G602 - depending if you liked wired or wireless, but the choices are endless, those are just my personal favorites atm.

You could also probably change the motherboard for something black, but would most likely be a lower end FX board, not alot of them in the higher end bracket like the M5A99FX PRO. You could go down to 8GB instead of 16Gb of ram if you wanted to allocate more money to the GPU. IMO on a 1080p monitor your going to be able to max settings on any current titles with a 270x, but again if you wanted to go 280 you could do that, but I think would be overkill for 1080p. My friend plays on max settings on 1440p with a 280x, so 270x should max 1080p no problem :) Hope this helps...although it may just confuse you more :).

Or this 14 year old wants a great computer, knowing my age shouldn't make a difference; I put the truth because I genuinely wanted people to help as I learned about computers very early on but never built my own. The builds you suggested were shit. Thanks for nothing.

Best help i've had from this site, thank you so much; will definitely be considering this build.

LOL!

And a preconceived assumption based on age is a dick move.

Go get thicker skin :D

If age doesn't matter then why'd you have to put it in your original post?

Your very welcome xD I would be proud to have this build :)
