So as I can only fit a 240mm rad in this case, is it worth it to go for a loop overclocking wise, other than the shear awesomeness of custom loops? Haswell is hot, and I plan to delid, but I'm torn on whether or not to get a high end air cooler, as I feel just a 240mm rad would do just a marginally better job. Cable management in the case is tough as is (those front panel connectors are EVERYWHERE, and ugly. At least I can sleeve my PSU cables).
Loop it up. You can always use an external rad.
You could indeed go with an H100i with some silent noctua NH-F12 fans, if thats fitting. But i guess you would also be fine with a decent aircooler. like a Noctua NH-U14S or the NH-D14
Well I was going to get a fully custom loop.
If you haven't built yet i'd wait for the devil canyon processors as they are supposed to have an improved IHS, so you (probably) would not need to delid.
Also, I recommend checking out https://www.youtube.com/SingularityComputers as he has built a few prodigy builds. As an owner of a prodigy, there's really not much room for air coolers, It was a bit of a struggle getting my Xigmatek dark knight in mine.
I have a 4670K.
I have de-lid and direct die cool it with an XSPC Raystorm waterblock, and a 240 Radiator.
My CPU is constantly OCed to 4.8GHz (Cant guarantee you will get that speed).
It is also around 1.35v.
My max temperature (full benchmarking) is below 50C.
So you tell me if it's worth it or not.
Wow, ok. I think I will go for a custom loop kit.
