I have £420 to make a gaming PC because I have £550 but im bying windows 7 and a keyboard/mouse. I need it to be able to play most games at a good fps(35/40+) at high/ultra settings. I could squeeze another £50 in my budget if I buy an oem version of windows but then I will not be able to upgrade the mobo so most of the money will have gone to the motherboard so I really need some help.
hey im britidh too :)
anyway i have a build here for £470(roughly) that inclueds win7 you could change the keyboard and mouse if you want to but i suggest that you also get a dedicated gpu and run it with the apu for great performance. However dont ask me what gpu to get as i have posted a thread on the forum asking this question(btw i have the exact same budget
the build http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ouJv
hope i helped
With that amount of money you're being very optimistic. It really doesn't allow you to get a GPU that will hit your targets. However, if you link your build or list the parts you want then some optimisations could be made.

(I built this for a friend)
This can play pretty much anything on ultra and on battlefield 3 with some settings on high and some on ultra (note the build doesnt have an hdd) the processor is good enough for gaming as the gpu is high endish.
Nort future proof but probably the best build with this budget.
Seriously if you are going to be on a budget build why buy windows?
If you MUST you can get a windows 7 trial and do the upgrade to windows 8 for $15 thing.
I dont know how to pirate it. If you could help me though that would be greatly appreciated seen as though I would have a bigger budget.
Heres my build without windows:

Only difference is ill be buying all of my hardware from scan.co.uk and prices differ so its £547 in total.
why dont you get the apu logan used in his $350 build then add a dedicated gpu aswell to max out performance(thats what im doing
I dont know, the APUs are good for lower end graphics cards but really I want to get a good setup that can last me a while.
Here is a setup with a motherboard that will suit my need for years to come:

The only problem is, I have to cut down on everything else. So i can either get a better motherboard and lower end CPU and GPU so that I have a motherboard that supports everything I will need it to or a Better CPU and GPU and a worse motherboard. I just worry that if I get OEM version of windows then newtechnologies will come out before windows 9 and I wont be able to upgrade my motherboard.
Here is a cheap pentium build with the retail version of windows. I guess that it will be upgradeable seen as though I can upgrade any part without problems(unless caused bby me, of course!)
