4090 blocking PCIE slots

Hi All,

I am planning a dual 4090 GPU build and am seeking advice about not blocking PCIE slots with these large cards. I would like to use a Supermicro H13SSL-NT motherboard in a Sliger CX4728 chassis.

I was considering the following riser cables in the hopes that they can fit underneath the 4090s to make use of the blocked slots:

But I’m not sure if that is feasible or if it would cause performance/thermal issues.

Has anyone else encountered this problem or have suggestions?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Unfortunately, there is no commonly available 4090 blower card in the US. They seem to be rather common (AIB and modded) in china, but there is no blower (or more compact) version in the US to help with the kind of build you are making. In the case you are trying to throw these into, it might be better to move to liquid cooling, considering that they take up 3.5 slots and create heat like nobody’s business.

For your build, though, what I would do is get the riser cable and a non-passthrough card into the first slot and mount it to the roof of the rear of the case so that the fans are facing down. The second card can go wherever else that it allows for the other card to fit. You could do this through a 3d print or a metal bracket screwed in through those vent holes in the side, or some combination of the two. Might need to remove the rear bracket to allow it to sit flush(ish).

Really dumb, but it would prevent them from each choking from the molten air they both put out. Could also be pretty flimsy depending on your implementation.

Not an easy task. I wish you luck in however you wish to do this. Maybe consider switching cases to allow for more space to do something like this lol.
