4090 12VHPWR Connector Still a Relevant Concern?

Timeline:

It seemed like, or my impression was that, Nvidia pushed this on the consumer, “dont be a moron and youll be alright”.

NorthridgeFix, a private repair shop [YT] channel I started watching just as a gauge on what common electronic gadgets fail most commonly, and what diagnostic logic to use to find the fault and/or what faults are common on what brand/model, is [still] getting 4090s in w melted connectors. Im not sure if this is a timing lag (his lead times have been long due to volume of repairs in general) but hes been replacing the 16pin connectors enough lately - even w the 90° adapters fused together- to make me think its still the same issue and its not just ignorant consumers “doin it wrong”.

He has a couple/three previous vids on fixes replacing the cards connector itself.

So the question is:
Is this still an issue that isnt just “oh you stressed it wrong” or “you didnt seat it properly”.

Im not a 4090 target consumer so I cant weigh in. Those that just game on 4090s have to be a pretty small set themselves considering the compute power of the card model. Nevertheless the cards are still showing up for repair in the same conditions whether FE or partner models.

The FE builds are one thing… It is them AIBs, that’ll be more worrisome
Variations of 12/16 plug position, will not have a consistency, between the multiple mfrs
Best workaround, involving these cables, is implementation of fixed angle
[either cable already pre-angled out, or through a 90/180 add-on adapter]

Whole thing felt rushed, to not take note of all these what-ifs, at most vulnerable point of GPU
Physical build of GPUs too, are not helping [with their depth(s), capable of approaching case wall]

Coincidence. I swear.
Anyway so the repairs were subcontracted out to Northridge Fix by CableMod. Ayayay. Mea culpa.
