I have a Dual monitor 4 computer DP KVM switch, and it works fine with a GTX 1080 Ti in an Alienware Graphics Amplifier, a M1 Max Macbook through an OWC Thunderbolt 4 Dock and two usb-c to DP. But in Windows 10 when switching back to a desktop with a RTX 4090 the computer will crash, no signal on the screens and no network.
No errors in the event monitor or anything. If I unplug the DP cables from the RTX 4090 and plug them again nothing crashes.
I know that it is not a hardware problem as the same computer doesn’t have that problem when in Linux.
Any hint about what could be happening?
Check if the 10 series GPU has the displayport firmware update from Nvidia?
Google 1080 Nvidia dp firmware update.
The 1080 works fine (also, it has the update). The one that crashes is the RTX 4090.
Try ddu to clean reinstall the drivers then? Kvm is a very dumb switchbox. If you had a 10 series lacking the fw update it can still poison the well because the other GPUs will suddenly try to negotiate thinking they’re dealing with a broke implementation of dp1.4 as the 1080 has.
But if you’re sure it’s fine try ddu to clean install the drivers
Could also be a bad cable. Especially a 20 pin dp cable when they should be 19 pins
