Having some friends round for a game night. We normally end up playing SSB melee on the GC. However i recently got some 360 controllers for my pc as I had a few games such as brothers that play much better with a pad and on the TV.
Are there any games you would recommend that support 4-player local multiplayer for PC? Would love to have been able to play L4D2 but that only supports 2 player split screen. It seems kinda lame they didn't introduce 4-player split screen especially now there is big-picture and in house streaming. It's a 4 player co-op game that doesn't support 4 players :s!
I wish developers would consider local multiplayer for PC more as playing multiplayer games while having friends round for some drinks is great fun! I suppose they will be worried about people complaining "the game runs fine for me in single player but i only get 15fps when i player 4 player split screen" or maybe its because they think there isn't the demand.
I'm not dumping a tonne of money on an overpriced electric heater just to occasionally play multiplayer with friends that are at my house . Not to mention I then have to pay 4x as much for the games I already own. If i got that kinda money to burn.... i'm upgrading my pc. Has nothing to do with the pc master race thing I just think that's funny ^^.
Consoles are way overpriced. Once you buy one (and yes you can build a pc for a similar price to a console) you are locked into their expensive games, can't play old games, can't get steam deals, Humble bundle and cant do anything else on them. I use my PC for much more than playing games.

That rig is approximately $100 dollars more than an xbox one with OS, mouse and keyboard.... less without but most people have them already. Also it will outperform an xbox one.
Anyway buy 2-4 games depending on the title and you have made a saving. Also You have to include the extra value a PC gives you being able to do much more than play games. Most people who buy consoles also buy a none gaming laptop or pc .
Exactly, we are talking about JUST THE FREAKING CONSOLE and like I said, it is damn cheaper and you can't beat it. Yes the game pricing argument is valid BUT the CONSOLE is still damn cheaper.
But I would like to point out that I game on both, and enjoy both, more so now that I have decided to only play only PC optimised games, so if I have some extreme urge to play assassin's creed unity (which I don't) i'd play it on a console. So i'm not a console extremist which is probably what I sound like atm haha.
Also, people who buy a console usually already have a laptop or a family desktop for internet and word etc anyway. So if you had no consoles or computers at all in you home then it would be a good idea to spend the moneys worth for both on a $1000 ish PC, but most people already have an average PC, so it'd make more sense to the average consumer to buy a console, also considering that most of them wouldn't be technically inclined, not that you have to be to make a PC these days but it's just how it is ya know?
another option for people who have an average prebuilt system from the past 2 or 3 years is to just drop a 130 dollar 750ti in it and start getting xbox one level performance.
Tek Syndicate did a segment on this in one of their talks, I can't remember which one though. Consoles are good, no denying that. My brother is a console gamer, and the unacquainted with technology its got a good thing going for it. But here is the kicker, would you like to have to have to pay more now or later? Bc the main difference is the games will always be more than on pc on launch, plus DLC season pass bullshit. Whereas, PC you will spend less overall later, in addition to having the option to upgrade, fix problems if they occur, and use for other workloads. So in conclusion, the console has its benefits, but they are short term, with less customization; pc does not have these constraints but will have a higher ticket price. So if the only factor is money, then the console wins, but if you care about quality, future-proofing, and ubiquity, then Pc is the clear-cut winner.
