4 pin fan 3 pin socket?

Can I plug a 4 pin fan into a 3 pin mobo socket? THANKS!

Yes, as long as it fits. It just wont be adjustable using the PWM function the fan was built for.

Just align it so the black, red, and yellow are conected, and the blue is unconected.

first pin on both plugs are ground

second pin on both are 12v+

third pin on both are Tachometer signal (RPM monitor)

Fourth pin on the 4 pin fan is PWM signal

Also the both 4 pin and the 3 pin fans have... don't know what to call them... two plastic things that hold them in place. And they are on both, but it's slightly offset on the 4 pin fan to make sure you plug it in correctly... Look at the link if you don't get what I'm trying to explain ;)
