4 GB of ram is 3 GB of ram?

Logan,

I have a problem I don't quite understand. I have a asus gsurf 365 motherboard that supports ddr2 and I currently have 4 GB of ram inside but it only says 3 GB of ram. The site says that it does that but what can I do the get the full 4 GB?

Greetings Pepi

Do you mean the computer in general is only detecting 3? If so, are you using 32-bit or 64-bit windows? 32-bit caps the ram at 3 GB, 64-bit doesn't.

If you have a 64-bit capable AM2 CPU installed you will have to reinstall Windows as a 64-bit operating system. You currently have a 32-bit Windows OS install and this is going to prevent your PC from using more than roughly 3GB of RAM.

My current processor is this one: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.5 GHz Dual-Core.

Which supports 64bit so thanks for the help i am going to try installing a 64bit windows
