3TB Hard Drive on motherboard with BIOS

Hi

I have a fast question. I want to buy a 3TB Hard Drive and I know there are some issues with them on a Mobo with BIOS. I don't want to buy a new motherboard with EFI just for one hard drive.

As I remember you can use over 2TB drives with BIOS but the single partition can not be bigger then 2TB. So to use it I will have to do two partitions right? Or I forgot about something and it wouldn't work? And even if I can't is there a way to bypass it by doing something?

Thx for anwsers.

The best case scenario is you can't boot from your 3TB drive but be able to use it as a single 3TB partition in your OS with some software tweaking.

Worst case, your motherboard doesn't recognize it.

I have already a boot drive so this one would be purely for backup purposes.
