3D Speed Printing, Wearable Cameras, & Digital Benches | Viva Technology 2016 | Tek Syndicate

We can all agree that 3D printing is a bit on the slow side. Now it is getting much faster thanks to processors made specifically for 3D printing. Logan also takes a look at some glasses which feature integrated cameras. This could prove useful in many applications. Lastly, he looks at a bench with digital advertising which adjusts its ads based on the number of people present.

I think the wendell5000 bot goofed again.

What in the hell is going on with Tek Syndicate? It is like you are saying to us now that battle can't be won so just give in and just get used to using and being tracked by all this surveillance stuff. Extremely disappointing! Oh sure that bus stop or whatever that shows people in it doesn't share info. right now but when the NSA tells them they have to share the info. can't do you think they are going to refuse to do it? Do you think they won't take money from companies who want to track people & see more about what they are buying in the area & from where? Also you mentioned them using the screen maybe one day to show people on the screen things that are tailored to them. This is just horrid. The glasses ....

NSA glasses? Spy glasses?

C'mon Tek Syndicate! You should be telling people to be more proactive in getting people to tell their public officials that they don't want the government funding companies that make this crap. People should be telling the government they don't want more ways to be spied on. In fact what the people of various nations need to do is destroy this technology or sabotage it when they see it. Hopefully some groups that care more about people's privacy than it seems Tek Syndicate does anymore will fight the good fight in the future the proper way.

ummm.... wrong thread?

Obviously not the wrong thread if you watched the video. Have you watched the video? This is the 2nd now where it seems Tek Syndicate doesn't seem to care about our privacy anymore. Go watch the video if you have not seen it.

This one?

He's just showing off some toys... I think most of his comments were pretty heavy with sarcasm. (@Logan is always very sarcastic...)

I could not hear sarcasm in his voice when he did this video. If I missed something I don't see it. The wearable cameras and the bus stop video tracking thing was him just saying this is what the future holds and he totally sounded like we should be accepting of that. What the world needs in a much less form is what the I.R.A. did. They don't need to be going around blowing up people but what they need to do is sabotage tech displays, protest some of these shows, and start sabotaging the manufacturing plants where this crap is made.

3D printing = ok ..... the violin = ok ..... the rest needs to burn!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with @eidolonFIRE it did seem sarcastic to me. The fact that he even mentions something to the affect of "In the future, we could all be filmed everywhere we go" is so loaded with meaning written between the lines when you know Logans stance on these matters. It seems like you only know him from this video alone, and that's not true is it? Also, I find it funny that he mentions the makers of that bus shelter will not sell meta data, that means he's actually asked them (and watched their flickering eyes for a second before they came up with a politically correct answer), which is more than you can say about a lot of other tech reviewers.

And at the end of the day it really doesn't matter what Logan or any of the other's opinion is on anything, really. The important thing is the information about the nature of the technology, what it is capable of.

At the end of the day what is important is society stops sitting idly by and fights this tech on a whole new level.

Jesus man... I did not endorse any of this stuff and I am not cool with any of it either. I was fair with the park bench company talking about how the tech could be used for bad things and "thanks to them for being good for now."

Would you rather that I go to events and ignore the trends. The entire world is moving toward this shit. We need to know about it. I am not thinking it really can be stopped but I would be up for making a documentary about it and how to avoid it.

I'm covering the event here, not endorsing stuff. Chill out.

@Logan putting the idea out there that it can't be stopped is wrong. Everything can be stopped. It just takes some serious actions to stop it. In regards to going to the events I would love to see a disclaimer below or in the videos making it clear you do not endorse this stuff. As for making a documentary about it I enjoy documentaries but they can only do so much. Money is better spent on action. If that is not Tek Syndicate's way of doing things so be it. As for chilling out I am allowed to get angry when I think you may be moving away from what I thought you believed in and I believe in. In commenting on those videos I did it and that was that and as for other responses I was just answering to what other people said in response to my posts. Oh and about chilling out I think the world has done too much of that. In fact over the past many years I had to do that just because I didn't have a group or the money to stop the bad that is going on. I know how to chill but is it the right thing to do many times? No. Our world has become too accepting of all that is bad going on around us both big and small.

Well good. I'm glad you're mad... that is the first step. I just meant chill out toward me... you can be as mad as hell about the misuse of technology.

You want to start a movement? I'll get going with it to. Does everyone want Tek Syndicate to really go to battle? We will need everyone's help... and it is going to severely hurt us when it comes to getting invited to events, vendor relations, etc... but I'm up for it. The IoT is going to be a mess... and mass surveillance is becoming a norm... which is also uncool.

Don't go to battle without a serious plan with a real chance of effectiveness. I'm also not cool with the implication from DeViLzzz we should be using IRA tactics, I would like the least amount of violence possible please. If you go to battle and fail, where are we supposed to get news on this stuff? CNN doesn't care. You can't win without being informed.

Yeah, this needs to be activism or awareness... not physical fighting.

i totaly agree i seen tons activist groups these days they would prefer physical fighting but we all know thats unethical. i am kinda also worried about groups taking encryption away and i listen lot about spying and misuse of infomation that bothers me lot.

I'm with Logan, I've been an activist for privacy, equality, and freedom for years. I've physically participated in many direct actions. In a collectivist society however one thing holds true, the majority decides all. Right now the majority of Americans are disinterested in privacy and their own freedom. Unless that somehow changes there is basically no stopping technologies from being used unethically. The only hope for the people it bothers is to go more underground. We can only hope that this wave of intrusive technology is met with a wave of technology subverting it.

The tek would definitely hurt from outright joining the fray, supporting a minority group, and becoming more activist oriented. I'm perfectly happy with the way they currently handle the unethical things they come across, dropping reminders that we have a right to things like privacy. Perhaps for now or in the near future it might be a good idea for the tek to look at some of the subverting tech more often. I'd be very interested in what they find.

Let me be clear. I didn't say to kill people like the I.R.A. did. However there are causes where I would do it myself for a militia group with the same political agenda as mine.

Sometimes the people that are right are in the minority and no matter if they lose the fight they have to take the fight to the enemy. Saying that Tek Syndicate shouldn't do that just because it would hurt them in some ways doesn't mean it isn't the right thing to do for them and heck for the people of this world.

The tek does not need to risk their livelihood to do good in the world. My point is that currently they already do a decent amount in regards to making people aware. A simple reminder of privacy as a right to a few thousand people is already helpful.

So how about that 3D Speed Printing?!?!?!? Hahahaha! With the cost of ink I haven't even gotten to use a regular printer in my home on a regular basis so I can hardly imagine having a 3D printer but they seem pretty cool.
