3770k at 80 C

im overclocking my 3770k with a corsair H100 at 4.5Ghz 1.30 V. With prime 95, the CPU temps top at 80 C. Is there anything wrong with that? this is my first overclock

yeah, drop your oc to 4.4. what thermal paste did you use?

To be 100% safe you could get go 4.4 and lower voltage, but it is safe atm.

Once you hit that magic 1.30v ivy bridge goes mental. Try to get the highest OC you can achieve without hitting 1.30v.

Cores 2 and 3 are stable around 77-79, with the occasional 76 or 80 for a moment, core 1 and 4 are 71-73 C. it has passed all prime tests so far. 12k-8k-16k-10k, repeating now

As notoonah and OmarCCX said, try lowering the voltage. I have i7 2700k @4.5Ghz maxing at 60c on 1.28v. I know that 3770k is a different arhitecture and all but it should have the same effect. Also you want to aim for high 50's mid 60's, 80 is way to high.

Wow there is something defiantly wrong with your temps at 4.5ghz using that H100. Or it can be that the H100 is a inefficient cooler. Also how long did you run prime 95 for? There is nothing wrong with your voltage.

What is weird is with my 3770K I am at 4.8ghz with 1.35v and my hottest core running prime 95 for 3 hours is 80C. I am using a Thermaltake Frio for my CPU cooler and my temps running on air is pretty much identical from what you have. Your temps should be much cooler than what it is now especially using a water cooling heatsink.

Well do you have adequate airflow in your case? I have good airflow but not the best. I have Corsair 600T see that should give you a good idea about my airflow. By the way what thermal paste are you using? I am using the Phobya HeGrease extreme. I recommend everyone get this paste. It is the second best paste out on the market.

Here is the chart to prove it
